About Butter Bug Boutique
Learn all about Butter Bug Boutique, our owner, our mission, and our store in Tampa!
Courtney's dream has always been to work with children in some capacity - helping children find success given the specialized tools needed for each individual child and challenge. In 2020 when the COVID epidemic heightened, Courtney made the very difficult decision to leave behind her career as a School Counselor and pursue another dream of hers - one that was inspired by her daughter, Lucy. Lucy was born with extremely sensitive skin, eczema, and sensory issues. Since her birth, researching what fabrics and products wouldn't irritate her became a full-time trial and error. What Courtney discovered was the miracle of buttery soft bamboo fabric that is free of harsh chemicals. Bamboo clothing, along with organic products, and even BPA free toys and teethers, were the only thing that completely got rid of Lucy's eczema. Courtney's mission remains to help other moms discover brands that are owned by moms, free of dyes/harmful chemicals, promote social-emotional development, and are tried and approved by the Butter Bug herself - Lucy.
FUN FACT: A lot of products offered at Butter Bug Boutique were used as SEL teaching tools in Courtney's former School Counseling groups, like Slumberkins!
The name "Butter Bug" came from the owner's daughter Lucy's obsession with bugs, specifically butterflies. Although the main inspiration, the name denotes another passion of this mom and daughter duo - buttery soft sleepwear and apparel! Check it out for yourself and feel the difference, it is life changing!
The vast majority of products offered at Butter Bug Boutique are made by moms all over the world! In addition to this, our brands and products are carefully selected based on specific core values and beliefs. One of the most important values that created our social good mission to Buy with a Purpose drives our selection of unique brands and products. This means that we specifically look for brands that give back in some way. For example, some of our brands give back to non-profits such as: The Trevor Project, The National Wildlife Federation, The Ocean Foundation, Mental Health Alliance, WWF, Eco-Health Alliance, With Love From Africa, Syrian Moms as Refugees, Cow Power, and hundreds of other community projects around the world as well as local non-profits in Tampa, FL! As women, let's empower each other and shop small to support one another!
